MK House is a renovation project situated in Bahria Phase 8, designed with a focus on enhancing the individual experience of each space within the home. The intervention reimagines an existing residential structure through a modern, mid-century lens, paired with a minimalist design language that prioritizes clarity, warmth, and functionality.

The layout follows a conventional residential typology with a central lounge and kitchen, from which all other private spaces branch out. However, the challenge—and opportunity—lay in adapting a unique pre-existing condition: a stairway that previously led from the lounge down into a single, enclosed space. This area was reconfigured to serve as a dedicated children's room, seamlessly integrated into the program while making use of an otherwise awkward spatial condition.

Materiality played a crucial role in reinforcing the design intent. A restrained palette of wood, PPC, and paint was employed to create a tactile yet understated interior atmosphere. The use of natural textures contributes to a sense of warmth and comfort, without compromising the overall minimal aesthetic.

While the project does not incorporate active sustainable strategies, the renovation emphasizes spatial efficiency and human-centric design. Each room was conceived as a distinct environment tailored to its user, enhancing both privacy and comfort while maintaining a cohesive architectural language throughout the home.
